Artifact No. 1: Hatless and Blind — How the Spiral Began

Before the transmissions, there was the Artifact.

Hatless and Blind is where Keith and the Cockroaches first crawled into the light—11 tracks of raw blues-rock, punk nerves, thick guitars, crooked stories, and a voice that's clearly been places it doesn't particularly recommend.

This is music for the broken, beaten, scarred, restless, and anybody who has ever found themselves driving somewhere after midnight with no especially convincing explanation for why.

From the barroom swagger of “Wrong Together” and road-worn “Plastic Tumbleweed,” through the dark dreamscape of “(Tonight, We Are) Immune” and the haunted tenderness of “Annie Moore,” Hatless and Blind established the strange little world the Cockroaches have been inhabiting ever since.

Music critic Neoborn Caveman described the debut as having a “refreshingly raw signature sound”, praising its storytelling and its ability to feel at home both in a bar and out on the road.
